Research Interests

Epigenetic modifications are known to play pivotal roles in defining cellular identities and might control cellular metabolic profiles (e.g., oxidative vs glycolytic). Manar is looking for epigenetic marks that tune the rate of glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation in various cell lines. In addition, she is interested in studying the effect of the astrocyte-derived lactate on neuronal gene expression and regulation.
