Overview

Current research of Pierre Magistretti’s group applies a variety of cellular and molecular biology tools, transcriptomics, imaging of ion and metabolite dynamics as well as electrophysiology patch-clamp recordings to study the cellular and molecular bases of metabolic and signaling coupling between astrocytes and neurons. Much of the group effort is focused on understanding the role of aerobically-derived lactate produced by astrocytes on the plasticity of neuronal networks and on the neuroprotection of neurons in physiological and neurodegenerative conditions.

The LCIE present at FENS Forum 2026

Our postdoc Xiaoyan Lin presented a poster of her work titled: "Corticosterone Reprograms Astrocyte Metabolism Toward a Pentose Phosphate Pathway-Driven Antioxidant State" during the FENS Forum at Barcelona, Spain. We hope this was an enriching scientific experience. See you in the next FENS Forum.
