Fathia is a Research Scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Pierre J. Magistretti at KAUST. Her research combines stem cell biology, brain metabolism, and multi-omics approaches to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders. Using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), cerebral organoids, and advanced transcriptomic and proteomic technologies, she studies neuron–glia interactions and metabolic signaling to uncover disease mechanisms and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Fathia has a multidisciplinary background, before joining the Magistretti laboratory, she worked in microbial and pathogen genomics, applying next-generation sequencing and computational genomics to investigate infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and malaria parasite biology in Prof Gordon Langsley’s Lab (Cochin Institute, Paris) and Prof. Arnab Pain’s lab (KAUST).
Ph.D. in Microbiology, Paris Diderot University, Paris, France, 2011.
M.Sc. in Molecular & Cellular Biology, Pierre et Marie Curie University (Sorbonne University), Paris, France, 2007.
